What does fashion mean to me? / Milleks mulle mood?

One of my oldest VOGUEs (and one of my favourites!).

“A person who sees only fashion in fashion is a fool.”

-Honore de Balzac.-

What does fashion mean to me?

I recall my first fashion moment.

I think I was about five years old and I remember my mother saying that the colour of my new boots didn’t really match the colour of my coat. And I thought to myself: “What does this mean? Why does the colour of the clothes matter at all and how can one colour not match another?” I was really puzzled.

Well, I got that figured out by now.

But I still wear colours that do not match and I wear clothes that do me no good. How come I love fashion then?

For me, fashion is the perfect get-away. It never lets me down. I just have to open a fashion magazine and I’m in another world within a second. It clears my mind AND gives me something else to think about.

I don’t have to wear the latest designer collection myself. I can enjoy looking at it on paper. In my dreams I only wear the best.

Of course fashion is also the luxurious fabric against your skin. The cut that makes you feel and look fabulous. The compliment from a colleague. The vintage dress where you just admire the work that someone has put into making something.

Above all, fashion is the easiest way to change something in your life (even easier than a new haircut!). You just put on something you have never tried before and the new you has been born.

And what about the nothing-to-wear and cannot-afford? Doesn’t it ever frustrate me?

It honestly doesn’t bother me that much!

What I don’t/can’t have I will dream about.

Ralph Lauren has said: “I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” And I love to dream.

Nüüd ma tean, mida see tähendab.

Minu jaoks on mood parim viis argipäevast põgenemiseks.

Mood on kompliment kolleegilt. Mood on vintaazkleit, mille puhul sa imetled kogu seda vaeva, mida keegi on ühe rõivaeseme tegemisse pannud.

Kõigele lisaks on mood lihtsaim viis oma elus midagi muuta (isegi lihtsam kui uus soeng!). Sul tarvitseb vaid selga panna midagi sellist, mida sa kunagi kandnud pole, ja uus sina ongi sündinud.

Kas mind ei häiri päevad, kus mul pole midagi selga panna? Kas mind ei kurvasta asjad, mida ma endale lubada ei saa? Kas mood ei vea mind kunagi alt?

Tõepoolest mitte. Mida ma ei saa omada, sellest võin unistada.

Ralph Lauren on öelnud: “Ma ei disaini riideid. Ma disainin unistusi.” Ja mina armastan unistada.
